Alicia Godwin is the artist and creator behind Painted Lady Studio. Alicia has explored a variety of artistic mediums, and found her place amongst textiles, drawing, and painting. She completed her BFA from the University of Kansas with a focus in textiles, and has used that knowledge as the foundation of her pieces. Alicia views herself as a multimedia artist, and her two favorite mediums to work with are embroidery and watercolor, both of which come together to create her signature Watercolor and Embroidery pieces.

The inspiration for Alicia’s Watercolor and Embroidery pieces came from a quiet night in several years ago. Alicia was absent-mindedly sketching while watching an episode of Chef’s Table, and in a scene when instrumental music started up, colorful cloud-like forms with equally colorful rays beaming from them came into her head. She hastily sketched them out, and then later that night, completed her first watercolor embroidery piece. Now with these pieces, Alicia makes them up as she goes, from the paint color choice, to the thread placements. The Watercolor and Embroidery pieces are all about abstract expression, fluidity and tension, freedom and rigidity, harmony and juxtaposition.

Painted Lady Studio is owned and operated solely by Alicia Godwin from her home. To view more of her work, go to her Etsy and her Instagram.
